I got level 24 with my Tauren Druid. Not only was it boring (nobody wanted to pair up with a newb), but the few friends that I had made were never online when I am, or when they are online, I'm just about to log off.

Either way, I find it a boring game unless you have a lot of friends who play the game.

By the way - have you told your mum about the £8.99 per account per month it's going to cost on top of the initial Battle Chest price?

I've seen more expensive games, I think there was one that had a £14/£15 per month subscription, might of been Everquest.
Not all the people like the same things. If I have to play what "Top 10 Games" tell me to, I was playing things that I consider a big crap (I'm not going to give any name, or I will flamed until the end of the world).

And I was not saying that there aren't more expensive. I was just saying that there are cheaper options.

But, reading your posts, you really WANT to play WoW, but you're looking for things to use as a excuse if your mother tells "what? monthly fee?". Maybe I'm wrong.

(note: i have never played WoW)

So to sum up what I've read so far, it sounds like if you A. Have 20 other friends who are about to go buy the game RIGHT NOW, or B. enjoy mindless grind, WoW is probably not for you.

oh yea, and the pay-to-play thing REALLY blows.

1. Played it, hated it.
2. Mainstream means alot of ppl play it, more or less.
3. More expansions can bloat a game and make it worse. (e.g. factions, nightfall and EotN in some ppls opinion.)
4. If you really want to play wow there are plenty of copy games that are free.
5. I would recommend DDO if you want something new. It should entertain for awhile and is free come the 9th. Or of course TF2

I want to play WoW not some crap un-popular game that the people who made it thought that the only way to make a decent game would be to copy WoW.

DDO? TF2? Stop assuming that everybody knows what you're talking about.

I find PW fun as a change to switch back and forth from GW. I know some here find it hard to believe, but some people do not mind grind.

<_< It really seems to me that you already know what you want. Just go buy WoW and play it. It's pretty clear to me what you want is just WoW endorsements or WoW info, which I'm sure you can find in a WoW forum.

If you don't want honest opinions, don't ask for them

Exactly... WoW is the only game I have frequently raged in.

For better or for worse, your opinions are already formed, however pathetically uninformed as they stand. Your statements are those of a fanboy - you know what you want, but you aren't willing to admit it.

Face it; you're going to spend a lot of money buying and maintaining two accounts for a game that is largely at this point as unfriendly to newer players as Guild Wars is, perhaps more so because WoW relies on gear to be successful, and the best gear is bound.

So, enjoy it.

Boring, grind, overrated.

If I wanted to grind... I would probably play Ragnarok Online, but then again, I usually avoid grind by going on high-rate servers. So no, thanks.

alright, here we go.

Kid, I checked your profile, and if your not lying, your 11. Your not supposed to be playing any of these games besides runescape.

You seem to really enjoy WoW, why don't you go and play it instead of asking people who didn't enjoy it or haven't tried it yet.

WoW has a monthly fee, it's around $180 american a year, after you buy it.

Guild Wars 2 is up and coming, you may want to hold off and try that, its more like WoW but, its guild wars so it will have a strong guild wars feel.

When I played WoW it was on the best private server out there. It was exactly like retail (my friend plays retail, I've seen it often), but free and faster lvling (15x rate), I got to lvl 70 (It was 2.4.3) and I got more bored than you can imagine.

WoW is based on lvl and grind, gw is based on skill, take your pick. Also, retail wow is filled with 12 year old fanboys (the older wow players hate them and talk about them alot), seems right up your alley.

Just because a game is similar, does not make it crap or unpopular.
DDO-Dungeons and Dragons online
TF2-Team Fortress 2

You need to show a but more maturity here (although this is the internet), these are all well known games in the gaming world. TF2 is especially fun. If you don't know these games, most everyone else does, just google it, don't yell at people.

This is more of the correct forum to be asking these questions on. You seem to have a similar view point aswell.

Well I have never played wow.

Here are my educated opinions of something that I have never experienced first hand.
These remarks might seem petty and undeserved to the GIANT that is better known as WOW. or Weather Oround the World.

It seems like the storm of Controversy has stirred up a Blizzard so think that one only has to view this from the outside to actually understand the interior makeup of the computer game that you pay for on a daily basis.

Jumping off a Cliff while ridding a beast might sound impressive when you actually need to own several houses collecting rent from tenants to see the similarity to the game and real life in-as-much as the cost will cause most people not to engage in it at all.

Can You imagine just starting out in wow and entering a raid and then you get pawned by 50 lvl 80's and you are only lvl 4? They will pillage the women and rape the village all in the name of fun.

Well I for one have never played WOW, the exciting Wonder of Wonder's but as you can see I know nothing of what I am talking about since this is infarct a Guild Wars Site.

It is AION that will challenge WOW to the thrown and GW2 will be a part of AION in as much as it will give us wings to soar, cliffs to jump off of and beasts to bit your heads off.

Kutos to AION....

now what was the topic...I forget..

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you...

I tried World of Warcraft when my sister was really into it. She got to max level. She got bored.

I didn't even make it to max level. I got EXTREMELY bored. Why? All one is doing is quests. There is no linear story line as in Guild Wars. And getting to level 80 is extremely long and tedious. Hell. Leveling up in World of Warcraft is tedious in the first place.

Playing this type of game is also VERY expensive. If you go with a month-by-month subscription, you're looking at US$15.00 a month. Over 12 months, that's US$180.00. So, yes. It gets expensive.

But if you are 11, then don't get the game at all; you must be 13 years of age or older to play it.

Either way, good luck with your endeavors.

Default Well...

I blame WoW (and Halo) for diminishing modern video games and pushing malformed obscurities onto a mainstream culture, which previously shunned and ridiculed them. That being said, I did try the game for a week to give myself more of a reason to hate it. After playing Dark Age of Camelot for many years, I was unimpressed by WoW's modicum of generic class and race options. Maybe it's just me, but "Lurikeen Eldritch" felt a bit more unique than "Gnome Mage."

But the masses enjoy it, mostly due to marketing and the "popularity makes it good" factor, unwilling to understand that nothing about the game is original.
